What if I am retaking a course that is part of the CMI?
If in a previous semester you were enrolled in a course that is now part of the CMI, you will not need to pay for the same course materials, given your ancillaries have not expired yet. Please note, the length of ancillary access varies from title to title.
If you retake a course that was part of the CMI in both previous and current semesters, you will still have access to your eTextbook for a total of three years and ancillaries for one or two years, depending on the ancillary. Again, you will not need to pay for the same course materials for a second time.
To remove the charge from your student billing account, we will need a copy of your schedules from the semester of your first course attempt and that of your second course attempt. You can send it as an attachment to textbook@umbc.edu.
The charge may only be removed if:
Proof of retake is sent by the add/drop day of the semester in which you retake the course, and
The course materials required for the second course attempt are the same as the course materials required from the first course attempt in title, edition, and author.
