How do I edit column information in the Original Blackboard Grade Center?

Tell Me

  1. Click on Grade Center under the Control Panel in the lower left part of your course.

  2. Click on Full Grade Center.

  3. Click the chevron button and choose Edit Column Information from the embedded drop-down menu in the header of column you want to edit.

Different columns (like the Total column) will have different options available.

On the Edit Column page you can change any of the following information that you want:

  • Column Name

  • Grade Center Display Name, where you can put a shortened name for optimal viewing in Grade Center

  • Description

  • Primary Display, which determines the format of how the grades will be displayed to both instructors in Grade Center and students in My Grades.

  • Secondary Display, which determines the format of how the grades will be displayed ONLY to instructors in Grade Center (and NOT to students in My Grades).

Under Dates, choose the Due Date you want:

  • To set a specific Due Date, select the radio button next to the Date field and enter a date. Alternately, you can click on the calendar button to choose an exact day, month, and year.

  • If you do not require the use of a Due Date, do nothing, as the None radio button is selected by default.

Under Options, change any options you want from the following:

  • Include this Column in Grade Center calculations, select the Yes or No radio button. Selecting No excludes this column from and Grade Center calculations.

  • Show this column to Students, select the Yes or No radio button. Selecting No makes this column unavailable/invisible to students in My Grades.

  • Show Statistics (average and median) for this column to Students in My Grades, select the Yes or No radio button. Select Yes to display column statistics to students in My Grades.

Click Submit to save your changes and return to your Grade Center's spreadsheet view.
