What types of materials can I request through Interlibrary Loan?
Answer
You can request:
- books
- book chapters
- journal articles
- items on microfilm
- and many other types of materials.
You MAY NOT request:
- ebooks (Ebooks held only by other USMAI libraries must be used at the home library due to licensing agreements)
- textbooks (other options you might try- textbook rentals are available from vendors such as www.chegg.com or amazon.com)
- leisure or recreational reading (Please consult your local public library)
- entire issues of journals, magazines or newspapers (unless on microfilm)
- genealogy materials
- reference materials
- old or rare materials
- record albums,CDs, DVDs and audio tapes
- software
- Items owned by other USMAI libraries must be requested through the catalog.
Please note that these items may be very difficult to borrow:
- music scores
- corporate technical reports and other in-house reports
- some high-demand and/or recent publications
- theses and dissertations; a few universities will not loan or copy them or restrict their use when they do.
