Basic Troubleshooting -
- Check the HDMI cable: Is it damaged? Reseat it securely to your laptop (or adaptor) HDMI output.
- Verify the Projector or monitor is turned on and is the proper connection (Laptop HDMI) selected.
- Switch to another source (like the Doc Cam), wait a few seconds, then switch back to Laptop HDMI.
- With your laptop properly connected and the correct source selected; reboot your laptop. Sometimes there is too much going on in the background, or too many applications are running.
- If you turned off the projector, you may need to wait a few minutes before the system will allow you to try turning it back on.
- If nothing is still showing you might need to check the settings on your laptop. See below.
Windows Laptop Settings -
- Click the Start button in the lower left-hand corner, then click on the System Icon.
- When you see the System Page, click Advanced Display Settings in the screen bottom-right corner.
- In the Advanced Display Settings, you should see two monitors shown side by side. If not please repeat the basic trouble-shooting listed above.
- If you do see the two monitors and then select ‘Duplicate These Displays’ from the Orientation drop-down menu. You should now see the exact same image on both your laptop and the monitor or projector in your classroom.
- An alternative is to press the Windows key and the “P” key simultaneously. A list of four choices will appear on the right-hand side of the screen. In most cases, choose Duplicate by using the arrow keys or cursor, then press enter.
Apple MacBook Settings -
- Under the Apple menu, upper left-hand corner select System Preferences.
- Then select Displays then select Arrangement. If you do not see two displays then you might need to retry the TroubleShooting steps above.
- Select the “Mirror” check box
- You should now be seeing the same image on both your laptop screen and on the monitors or Projectors in your classroom.
- Most Mac Laptops will require a video adapter out from your laptop to the HDMI cable input on the classroom monitors or projectors. These adapters can vary greatly by Mac Laptop model and year - If unsure what adapter to buy please call AV Services at 410-455-2461 and we will assist.
