Unfortunately, Blackboard is not a streaming server and media files will degrade system performance. Media files include:Audio (mp3, mp4, wav, aiff, flac)
Video (wmv, avi, mp4, m4v, mov, mpv, mkv, mpg, mpeg, camrec, vob)
Interactive (swf, flv)
Further, an audit of our current Blackboard site revealed other files are using outdated formats or are simply too large for dissemination to students. The cloud infrastructure will not support file uploads larger than 500 MB.
Affected file types may include audio, video, and interactive listed above as well as:
Image (tif/tiff, bmp, jpg, xif, heif, psd, svg, eps)
Narrated or media-rich PowerPoint (ppt, pptx, pps, ppm, ppsx, key)
Documents (pdf, doc, docx, rtf, ibooks, xls, xlsx, csv)
Computer executables (iso, exe)
Compressed files (zip, rar, tar.gz, bz2)
Classroom tools (mat, prs, pcapng)
We understand that your content is still important to you. However, we cannot maintain it on our Blackboard site without impacting the rest of the campus. As such, we ask:
