Tell me

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook
  2. Click File, then Add Account
  3. Click the radio button to the left of Manually configure server settings or additional server types
  4. Click Next
  5. Click the radio button to the left of Internet E-mail
  6. Click Next
  7. A window entitle Add New E-mail Account will open
    Under the User Information header:
      1. Enter your full name in the Your Name field
      2. Enter your UMBC email address in the E-mail Address field
    1. Under the Server Information header:
      1. Select IMAP from the Account Type drop-down menu
      2. Enter imap.gmail.com in the Incoming mail server field
      3. Enter smtp.gmail.com in the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) field
    2. Under the Logon Information header:
      1. Enter your UMBC email address in the User Name field, must include the entire email address johndoe@umbc.edu
      2. Enter your UMBC password in the Password field
      3. Make sure to check the Remember Password check box
  8. Click More Settings
  9. In the Internet E-mail Settings window that opens, click on the Outgoing Server tab
    1. Check the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box
    2. Click Use same settings as my incoming mail server
  10. In the same Internet E-mail Settings window, click on the Advanced tab
    1. For the Incoming server (IMAP), select SSL from the Use the following type of encrypted connection drop down menu
    2. Make sure the text field next to Incoming server (IMAP) is set to 993
    3. For the Outgoing server (SMTP), select TLS from the Use the following type of encrypted connection drop down menu
    4. Make sure the text field next to Outgoing server (SMTP) is set to 587
    5. Click OK on the Internet E-mail Settings window
  11. Click Next on the Add New E-mail Account window
  12. Click Finish on the Add New E-mail Account
  13. Outlook is now configured to send and receive your UMBC E-mail from on and off campus.
