Tell Me

Filters allow you to manage incoming messages and organize your inbox. Using filters, you can automatically label, archive, delete, star, or forward your mail, based on any combination of keywords, sender, recipients, and more.

For example, you can use a filter to automatically label or delete emails from specified senders.

To create a filter:

  1. Click the gear icon in the top right of the screen
  2. In the setting screen click Filters
  3. Click Create a new filter
  4. Specify a criteria to define matching message (eg from Jack)
  5. Click Next Step
  6. In the next screen specify the action to take for matching messages (eg Apply label)
  7. Click the Create Filter button

Whenever you receive a message that matches the criteria, the defined action will take place.
