Public Photo-Duplication

The Library operates a self-supporting public photocopying program by which it seeks to facilitate efficient dissemination of information at low cost to each individual user.

Public photocopiers and microform reader/printers with a variety of features (reduction/enlargement, etc.) are installed at key locations throughout the library building. Photocopiers and reader/printers are equipped with magnetic debit card readers and/or coin/bill acceptors. Current per copy costs are indicated in Appendix A attached.

Additional equipment supporting convenient photocopying are also provided through this program (including change machines, card vending units, etc.)

Use of copying equipment

Use of Library copying equipment is on a first-come, first-served self-service basis. Library staff will copy materials at no additional charge for persons with disabilities who are unable to operate the Library's copying equipment themselves.
Persons using photocopying equipment are responsible for properly operating equipment according to printed or verbal instructions given. The Library cannot assume liability for operator error in making copies (example: failure to properly position original, control exposure, set copy quantity, etc.)

To ensure that copying equipment is not subject to excessive wear and tear, and to avoid loss of supplies or possible diversion of staff time, users may not supply their own paper or transparency stock for use in Library copying equipment.

What may be copied

Personal materials and most library materials may be copied using Library copying equipment. Certain Library materials to which access has been restricted (due to physical or legal conditions) may be copied only by library staff, if at all.

Persons using photocopying equipment are individually responsible for complying with restrictions placed on copying by U.S. Copyright Law and amendments. The Library posts notices to this effect by its photocopying machines in order to remind users of their responsiblity.

Library staff copying materials for users either in case of user disability or because of Library restrictions on access, will refuse copying requests that appear to violate copyright law.
