VISITORS' PARKING FOR THE LIBRARY & GALLERY
Library Users / Visitors on Personal Business:
Visitors may park, with payment, at any meter; see meters themselves to see when they are in effect. Normally meters are not in effect evenings after 7 p.m. and on weekends. They are located at the end of Walker Avenue, in lot #10 (between the administration building and the road to routes 95 and 195), and other locations.
Visitors may park without charge and without a permit in the visitors' lot, i.e. lot #13 along Poplar Avenue (on the south side of the campus, between Hilltop Circle and Arbutus).
If the above two options are for any reason unacceptable to visitors, they may apply for temporary parking permits at the campus police station, which is located north of Center Road—look for the antenna above a small, one-story building; parking for those on police business is located in front of that building.
The closest handicapped spaces are at the end of Walker Avenue, SE of the Library.
Visitors on Official Business:
Check with sponsors of meetings to see what special arrangements have been made. Parking permits are often mailed with meeting agendas. See rules, above.
Repair and delivery vehicles may be parked at the loading dock or in designated space across Walker Ave.; inform Library staff if you park in those spaces, to avoid tickets; these spaces require display of a permit which is available from Library Accounting & Receiving staff (next to loading dock).
USM Staff with Parking Permits from Non-UMBC Campuses:
USM permits are honored for equivalent parking, e.g. if you have a faculty/staff permit, you may park in faculty/staff spaces but not in student spaces. All such permit holders may park in undesignated spaces, most of which are on Hilltop Circle.
Admissions Visitors:
Please consult with the Admissions Office regarding arrangements for visiting prospective students. Also, see rules for Library Users / Visitors, above.
