  1. Enter your full name in the Your Name field
  2. Enter your UMBC email address in the E-mail Address field
  • Google may block sign-in attempts from some apps or devices, including Outlook, that does not use modern security standards. As such Google recommends that you update to an app that uses the most up to date security measures. If you wish to continue using Outlook despite Google's recommendation, you will need to follow Google's instructions for allowing less secure apps.

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Enter your UMBC email address in the email address field.
  3. Click Advanced Options.
  4. Ensure "Let me set up my account manually" is checked.
    1. If you cannot see this screen and instead see the Microsoft Outlook homepage:
      1. Go to File > Info > Add Account 
    2. If you have already signed into an Outlook account and want to sign out:  
      1. Follow the steps listed here
  5. Choose IMAP as the account type. 
  6. Enter imap.gmail.com in the Incoming mail server field.
    1. Enter 993 as the port. 
    2. Choose SSL/TLS as the encryption method. 
    3. Check "Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)."
  7. Enter smtp.gmail.com in the Outgoing mail server
