Availability of VHS Players in Instructional Spaces

1. VCR/VHS players will be available for use in instructional spaces until 06/01/2017.

Availability of VHS Players in the AOK Library

The AOK Library currently has VHS players available for use in the Library. These players will remain accessible after 06/01/2017.

1.  Screening Room (Room 258):  The screening room is equipped with a VHS player and has seating for 30.  To reserve the screening room call Library Media at 410-455-2332 or email medialib@lists.umbc.edu.  
2. Viewing Stations: The Library has several individual viewing stations equipped with VHS players.  These are available on the second floor near Library Media. 

AOK Library VHS Collection

The AOK Library is working to update the VHS collection. VHS tapes needed for teaching which are not available in updated formats will remain in the collection. We are actively working with faculty members to identify materials in VHS format that are needed for instruction.  Whenever possible, we are working with departments to purchase materials in an updated format.  We are also working with faculty to identify appropriate replacement materials and we will continue to keep some VHS materials in the collection.

Replacing VHS Tapes Needed for Instruction

Most content on VHS tapes has been released in an updated format. Here are some quick tips to help you find updated formats:

1. Google/Amazon search
2. Check the original publisher/vendor website
3. Check the AOK Library catalog to see if it is in the UMBC collection or if it available from another library. The AOK Library catalog can be found here: http://www.umbc.edu/aok/main/index.html

If you find the material in an updated format, please use the AOK Library Material Request form to order a copy. The Material Request form can be found here: httphttps://aok.liblibrary.umbc.edu/bookorder/bookreq.php

If you are unable to find material in an updated format contact the Digital Media Librarian who may be able to assist you in finding material or suitable replacements.
