The Customization feature allows instructors to change the availability of a course. When courses are setup on Blackboard they are made available Courses created in Blackboard are available by default to Instructors, TA's, and Course Builders but not students. Many instructors have requested it be setup this way so they may work on the site to allow time to work on course updates before students have access to it. A Students cannot access a course set to Unavailable is not available to students but remains available to the instructor, TA’s and course builders.

There are 3 ways to make your course available:

OPTION #1

Use Qwickly on the My Blackboard tab for a 2-click solution to course availability.

• Click Course Availability from the Qwickly Tools module, which is located in the upper left corner of the My Blackboard tab.
• Click ON to make a course available or OFF to make a course unavailable

OPTION #2

Use the Make Available tool from your course Home Page.

NOTE: This feature is NEW as of January 6, 2018.

OPTION #3

Modify the course's properties.

1. Select and log into the course
2. Select Customization from the Control Panel (lower left side)
3. Select Properties
4. Scroll to property #3 ("Set Availability") and select “Yes”
5. Scroll to the bottom of the page Click Submit
