A email filter will automatically carry out a defined action when specified criteria are met.
For example, you can use a filter to automatically label or delete emails from specified senders.
To create a filter:
- Click the gear icon in the top right of the screen
- In the setting screen click Filters
- Click Create a new filter
- Specify a criteria to define matching message (eg from Jack)
- Click Next Step
- In the next screen specify the action to take for matching messages (eg Apply label)
- Click the Create Filter button
Whenever you receive a message that matches the criteria, the defined action will take place.
